I recently found out about a dog with a very interesting story. Now called a Surfing Dog she is helping raise money for the disabled. I salute the trainer and owner and certainly Ricochet the dog as well. Please take a moment to see the video and find out what Ricochet has been up to.
It is my pleasure to help spread the word about the great work this “dog in service” is doing. Ricochet, (“Rip Curl Ricki,”) the Surfin’ for Paws-abilities surf dog, who has been leading a fund raising campaign over the last three months for Patrick Ivison, a 15 year old quadriplegic adaptive surfer, has raised more than $10,000 for his medical expenses.
In addition, with the help of a grant from the WebMD Health Foundation, three years of his physical therapy will be funded.
Ricochet also helps out with Paws’itive Teams, a San Diego group that provides therapy dogs for people with disabilities and is currently leading a toy drive to benefit Rady’s Childrens Hospital in San Diego and two other groups.
Here is a very inspirational video telling Ricki’s story- Including How she could NOT be a traditional therapy dog.
