Dog Crate Training Yes You Can Crate Train Your Puppy

I don’t do much on this blog about dog training unless it relates to dog crates. You can’t believe how much easier your life will be and your dog’s life will be if you start off right. That means dog crate training. Many say they don’t want to because it is too much work. I say “Yes you can crate train your puppy.”

I found this 4 minute video that shows how simple it is. I won’t take up a lot of your time. I would rather have you watching the video so you will understand that it’s not rocket science to crate train your puppy. Please note that she has a cover over the dog crate to create that “den” feeling that most dogs enjoy.

Every puppy should have a dog crate and should be crate trained. Yes, that’s my opinion but if you look at trainers across the board they encourage dog crate training. If you wish additional information while you’re here see my post on dog crate training-Stop Your puppy from Whining.

It doesn’t matter how big or small your puppy will be when full grown. He or she needs a dog crate and needs dog crate training early on. Please see my post “Puppies Love Dog Crates.”

Another post that seriously points out the need for dog crates is “Keep Your Pets Safe and Your Holidays Happy.”

“She is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are her life, her love, her leader. She will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of her heart. You owe it to her to be worthy of such devotion.”  ~~Unknown

By now you know that I believe in dog crates for your dogs at any age. I believe in dog crate training. I believe that you can crate train your puppy if you understand why you need to do it. I hope I have helped you get a bit further down that learning path today.

Best of luck with your pets one and all.

  1. Hey Dog Crate Michele, This is Bill Beavers Dog Crates here.

Thank you so very much for that wonderful story about your little ones and their crates. I wish I was a cartoonist I would draw the picture you have put in my mind’s eye. All the best to you.

My dog Sammie LOVES her dog crate. Its the funniest thing to watch her at bedtime…we say “OK Sammie, time for bed” and she gallops down the hallway and opens up her crate door with her nose and lays down and waits for her cookie! We’ve got a blanket over the crate to make it more like a “den” for her. We have always crate trained our dogs. It makes it so much easier for housetraining. And all we have to do in the morning when we leave for work is say “OK guys, time for work” and they all go into their crates and wait for their cookies”…

Very true, I definately think crate training is the way to go. Just remember to be consistent and use positive reinforcement.

  4. having dog crates is really advantageous for it can serve you and your dog in 3 ways. you can use it for containment, training, and even as an additional furniture piece or decor. it’s nice to know that you can contain your dog and at the same time train him.
