From a Ranch in Northern Texas

From a Ranch in Northern Texas

From a ranch in northern Texas where the Bluebonnets bloom beyond the horizon there came news from a good online friend that she had lost two of her best friends, Sally San and Finale. I will let her explain who they are and why they were so special. Lynn Baber writes from the heart in a style that makes one feel like you are sitting across from her on the front porch and listening to her speak, a technique I still haven’t mastered...

ZENYATTA 2010 Santa Margarita Handicap a textbook example

Enjoy this short video of Zenyatta the 2010 Santa Margarita Handicap a textbook example of what we all love to see horses do and people too I suppose. The Fawn

The Fawn

His name was Skippy.  :)  I have wonderful photos and video of my granddaughters running and playing with him through the sprinklers. Finally, Danny had to let him go back to the “wild”.  He put a “dayglow” ear tag on his ear and told...

Kids in the Deep South A Wild Time

Kids in the Deep South A Wild Time

Bill, you and I were both kids in the deep south.  We lived in the Huck Finn days, almost, of when us kids were …barefoot and fishing…and getting nickle cokes out out of the machine at the gas station.  I remember when we first met…online…and us talking about seeing black panthers…(or cougars).  Few people know that they were around back then….and still are in certain areas.  A black panther? My son and I were not sure what we had seen and...

Thanksgiving in West Texas Circa 1810

Thanksgiving, it’s always a big deal in my family and really the one time we all get together. I have 2 sons…and most of the time…the wives want to go to their families on holidays. The thing my oldest son has always loved about the holiday…is to sit at the table and listen to the old stories about the family. There are the really old stories about when my great aunt lived out in West Texas on a ranch and had all these children. Her...
